The Fair Squares Special Events Page |
Each year we hold a few special events, some just to bring all our dancers closer together, some to demonstrate our talents to the unknowing public, and some just to thank our many terrific guests for joining us during the year. |
Fair Squares Picnic - A great social event to thank our many terrific guests for all their support during the year. This year we'll be picnicking, socializing, eating, and Holy Boarding all day. Of course, we do that every year. All our dance guests are invited and good times are guaranteed. Bring a covered dish and a smile. We'll be crowning a new Holy Board Champion so show up stoked. |
Orkney Springs Labor Day Weekend Festival - While it's not a Fair Squares event, the Fair Squares caller (Al Groth) has been one of the Staff Callers for this event for 20+ years and all the Fair Squares club members attend. The Orkney Springs Labor Day Weekend (OSLDW) Festival includes 4 days of festivities, 9 full meals, dancing on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening and a getaway dance on Monday morning, plus workshops on Saturday and Sunday for Squares, Rounds, and Western Lines. The real adventurous among us (and I use the term "US" loosely) go horse back riding, swimming, play Volley Ball and a whole raft of other activities. Check it out. |
National Apple Harvest Festival - A two weekend festival held in Arendtsville, Pa on the 1st and 2nd weekends in October. The Fair Squares have put on a Square Dance Demonstration at the NAHF for more than 10 years and have always been blessed with many, many helping hands from other clubs in the area. We typically wind up with 2 to 3 squares in a huge auditorium for about 3 hours of dance entertainment. We dance on the Second Saturday of the Festival, beginning this year at 12:15 PM in the Apple Auditorium. Again this year, we'll share dance time with the Carol County Cloggers. This is always a very enjoyable outing and we hope you can come out and join us. Wear your square dance clothes and get in free and we'll provide lunch. |
Special Event - Christmas Dance - Once again this year, it's Christmas Dance and Food Pantry Night. Bring along a non-perishable food item and donate it to the local Food Pantry. Linda Prosser will cue rounds for us again this year. |
And don't forget, the 7th Annual Memorial Day Weekend Event on Saturday, May 28th, 2011. |
